A video of an Australian fitness instructor in a wheelchair going for a walk in the park has gone viral on YouTube.
The video was posted on the social media platform on Saturday by a man who identified himself as John.
He said he was at a park in Sydney’s east on Saturday afternoon when a female friend of his went to look for her pet bird.
“It was about 2pm when I turned on the lights and I realised the woman had come into the park,” he said.
“She was standing on the grass holding the bird in her arms.”
The video is titled ‘It’s just like an adrenaline ride’ and it has racked up more than 7 million views.
It shows the instructor walking with the bird on a treadmill.
“When she got up onto the walkway I was shocked, I was scared, I wasn’t expecting anything like this to happen,” he told ABC Radio Melbourne.
“My mind was blown.”
He said the woman’s friend was the person who saw the video and took it to the park.
“They’re just really good people and that’s why they got it out there,” he added.
He also said the video was not aimed at him, but that his friend was.
“I think that’s what people who see it might think, they might think that I’m doing it to get attention, but it’s not that,” he explained.
“All I did was do it because I wanted to walk with a bird.”
He was approached by a friend and offered $25 to show him the video.
The owner of the video told ABC News he didn’t want to be named.
“That was my initial reaction when I saw it,” he recalled.
“We thought, ‘Oh my gosh, is that what this person is doing?’.”
She said, ‘Yeah, it’s my dog.’
“She’s not going to do anything for a long time, she just wants to get on with it.”
John said he did not think the video would be as viral as it was because of the woman in the wheelchair.
“To me it just seems so weird that she’s walking on her own.
I just don’t understand it,” John said.
